Transpose

Transposing is one of the most useful function in PG Songbook. It can detect the chord symbol in the file and change the root of that chord to the new chord by add or subtract the root note.

PG Songbook support basic transposing. It does not try to ‘guess’ the key of the song after being transposed, instead it simply add or subtract all the chord in the file. And if the root note of that chord is either # or flat, it used the one that is set in the dialog.

First of all, open a song. In the example, this song is obviously in the key of D.

Use +/- button to adjust the number of semitone to transpose, remember that the value could be positive or negative. Then use ‘Sharp of Flat’ button to choose whether the transposed chord would be sharp or flat.

For example, choose to transpose to –1 semitone, with sharp chord.

And the results is a song transposed to be in the key of C#. Notice that the chord with # or flat is all #.
